About the Mozilla splashscreen thingy, thanks for the piece of information. The way I had figured out how to do it is just hacking the .exe file with Resource Hacker, and mess with some crap in there, to point it to my own custom .bmp file, so the original .bmp is all right and still in it's own special place.
